Chiropractors are healthcare professionals regulated by the General Chiropractic Council. They have the knowledge and skills to assess, diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions, including back and neck pain, headaches and shoulder pain.
Chiropractic treatment can help alleviate the symptoms of pain and discomfort as well as improving mobility and disability associated with these conditions.
Chiropractors use a wide range of techniques which include spinal manipulation, extremity joint manipulation, soft tissue treatments, mobilisation as well as providing advice and guidance around exercise prescription and lifestyle factors.
This may also include advice around diet, nutrition as well as techniques to manage stress.
James graduated from the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic in 2018 and has since developed a strong interest in clinical education and supporting the next generation of chiropractors.
James enjoys supporting members of the community and has a particular clinical interest in general diagnosis. He has worked as an associate chiropractor in clinics across Derby and Northampton since graduating. In 2023, he established Chiropractic Healthcare Derby, fulfilling his ambition of running his own clinic and providing high-quality chiropractic care within his local community.
He currently works part-time as a Lecturer of Chiropractic at London South Bank University, having previously worked as a clinic supervisor at the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic (WIOC). Alongside his teaching, James conducts work for the General Chiropractic Council as a Test of Competence Assessor, assessing chiropractors seeking registration to practise in the UK.
Following graduation, and while working as an associate chiropractor, James completed a research internship in partnership with the Chiropractic Research Council and Arthritis UK. He has continued to combine clinical practice with education and professional development throughout his career.
Alongside his chiropractic work, James is a qualified football referee, so you may see him running around a football pitch at the weekend. He also combines his experience in football and healthcare by teaching Emergency Medical First Aid in Football to grassroots and professional coaches for The Football Association.
James unwinds from work by spending time walking his bulldog, Reginald, and is also a qualified private pilot.
James is registered with the General Chiropractic Council, is a member of the British Chiropractic Association and is a Licentiate Member of the Royal College of Chiropractors Education Faculty. James has trained as a trainer for the Royal College of Chiropractors’ Post-Registration Training (PRT) programme, supporting newly qualified chiropractors as they begin their professional careers.
James is also registered to treat patients through a number of leading private healthcare providers, including Bupa, AXA Health, WPA and Vitality, enabling him to provide chiropractic care to patients covered by these health insurance providers.
